Let’s Color Our World
James Selway
Let’s color our world in hope and promise,
Color our world in dignity,
Let’s color our world in peace and freedom,
Color a world lived in unity.
This world filled with color, this world in our care,
With its blue sea and sky, is a gift we must share:
And the world gives a blessing of silvery rains
That nourish green meadows and gold-crested plains.
We lie in a world of light and color,
Live in a world of splendors;
We live in a world of grace and beauty,
A colorful world of wonders.
But the bounty we share on this green-mantled earth
Will flourish if only we value its worth.
There’s a bright day before us if we all take a stand
And create a new world with heart and with hand.
Let’s color our world in health and plenty,
Color a world of prosperity,
Let’s color our world in trust and caring,
Color a world lived in harmony.
We live in a world now shadowed by fears,
A world that is darkened by chaos and tears,
A world gray with power as we fight to be right;
Shall this be our world? Shall it slip into night?
We color our world in light and promise,
Color our world in possibility,
We color our world in peace and freedom,
Color a world lived in unity.
For deep in our hearts is a flame that still glows,
A light of compassion, a blossoming rose,
Like a rainbow of hope, a light we protect,
As we cherish our world with love and respect.
Let’s color our world in hope and promise,
Color our world in dignity,
Let’s color our world in peace and freedom,
Color a world lived in unity.
Let’s color our world in possibility,
Health and plenty and prosperity,
Trust and caring and harmony,
In unity, we color the world!

Other Events:
September 10 (Wednesday), Children's Wellness Day
Arts and Crafts Studio Tent (noon - 2:30 pm): Light Songs/Dark Songs: Healing and Freedom Through Collage
Ms. Harnes will give a workshop:
Dark Songs: Negative thoughts and feelings from the past can affect our health and keep us from having lives that we love. During the first half of the workshop some basic tools to uncover such issues will be presented and discussed, and collages made reflecting these issues. Light Songs: In the second half of the workshops participants will then consider (and make collages to represent) what they would like to create with their lives. Participants may apply what they learn to their personal and family lives and to the communities in which they live and work. Community groups may create collages together for specific issues and projects.
Participants: Children age 10 and above; youth and adults
Materials for participants to bring: small sticky note pads and magazines (scissors, glue sticks, and poster board will be provided)
Participants are asked to share their magazines with others.
September 12 (Friday), Awards Banquet
New Washington, DC Convention Center (6pm - 9pm): The 2003 Festival Awards Ceremony
Ms. Harnes' prepares ICAF young artists from 60 countries to sing with the Choir at the ICAF Awards Banquet on Friday evening.
Sondra Harnes is a professional musician, coach, and visual artist. As a professional musician she conducts the World Children’s Choir which she founded in 1990, gives private voice lessons, and directs Singers Onstage!, a perfoming arts workshop held in Arlington, Virginia. Ms. Harnes’ mission is to train children to sing beautifully and artistically, so they may open the hearts of people everywhere to what is possible if we come together as one family to build a better world. As part of this work she has seen the necessity for her own personal and leadership development and the development of her students to find ways to think “outside the box” and break through obstacles that occur in life that keep us from being happy, expressive, and successful. A very powerful and enjoyable way to do this is through collage.
