Alma Powell and the
World Children's Choir Help Celebrate the Holidays at Union Station
Children Raise their Voices in Song to Usher in the Holiday Season
Join us for a heartwarming celebration as Alma Powell, wife of Secretary
of State Colin L. Powell and co-chair of America's Promise The Alliance
for Youth, welcomes the World Children's Choir
for a very special holiday concert. Come ring in the season, as Mrs.
Powell kicks off the afternoon's festivities by signing copies of her
best-selling children's books, America's Promise and My Little Wagon.
These two books written by Mrs. Powell reinforce the mission of America's
Promise to build the character and competence of our nation's youth and in
a fun, spirited way, encourage children to give back to their communities.
Mrs. Powell is donating her proceeds from the sale of these books to
America's Promise.
After the signing, Mrs. Powell will introduce the World Children's
Choir for a special performance of holiday carols. The critically
acclaimed choir, which has performed at the White House and the Kennedy
Center, is a U.S.-based non-profit organization made up of children of
