Audition/Voice Evaluation Process

The artistic director will warm up your child/teen's voice. |
|
|
The student may then sing a prepared solo, if desired.
Youngest students are not expected to sing a solo. |
|
|
The artistic director will work with the student to learn one or two songs from WCC's repertoire. |
|
|
Information about WCC mission, activities, parents and singer commitments will be discussed. |
|
|
Parent/s and student ask questions. |
The session, which lasts about 45 minutes depending on how many questions the family has, is held in the home music studio of the artistic director in Falls Church, VA.
This is not a traditional stand alone and sing audition. Every effort is made to have the session be an enjoyable learning experience for the student.
The basic requirement to enter the choir is that students be able to sing in tune, have a desire to learn to sing well and perform, and a willingness to learn the music for season concerts in a timely manner.

All new singers accepted into the choir have
a trial period of four consecutive rehearsals.
Students who cannot yet sing in tune will be encouraged to take private voice lessons to prepare them to enter one of WCC's ensembles. During this preparatory time, the student will sing in the monthly full choir rehearsal held once each month on a Saturday morning, and in the finale of season
concerts.
