Dear Friends,
In response to the terrible tragedy of September 11, James Selway, WCC Associate Director, has written a song called With One Dream. The World Childrens Choir, joined by professional singers from the Washington, DC area and accompanied by a 34-piece orchestra, recorded the song on September 20th. The World Childrens Choir will release the CD single as part of its Voices for Children Campaign that raises money for childrens causes throughout the world. Recipients of net proceeds from With One Dream will include children who lost a parent in the attacks at the World Trade Center and at the Pentagon.
We expect the CDs to be available for shipping by October 19. With One Dream may be ordered through our website, by fax, or mail. Please see payment and shipping information below.
We feel very strongly about this song. The response of people who have heard it is overwhelming. The song expresses our sorrow but most importantly it is a song of hope. We engaged Jim Kessler, the best music arranger in Washington to prepare the orchestration. He has provided arrangements for the Kennedy Center Honors, the Boston Pops, and the National Memorial Day and Capitol Fourth concerts from the West Lawn of the U. S. Capitol. He has wholeheartedly embraced the project and is convinced the recording will have a powerful impact.
The song begins with the voice of one child singing, With one dream, with one hope, with one heart, we sing with one voice, and ends with the entire chorus of adults and children singing, We still dream, we still hope, we still love, our hearts are one, with one dream we stand.
During the recording session, orchestra personnel, adult choristers, recording studio engineers, and a reporter and videographer from Fox News were all extremely moved by the beauty of the lyrics and the melody. The Fox videographer told Ms. Harnes that the emotion of the song and the hope and promise of the childrens voices brought tears to his eyes and helped him deal with the memory of the terrible scenes he had witnessed at the Pentagon the previous week. The videographer and the reporter stayed for almost the entire session telling us they wanted to get the story right for their broadcast that evening on Fox Channel Five.
Sharing our resources and friendship, we inspire each other as we continue our quest for a better world. There is nothing that we cant do for our children, our world, and our future, when we dream and build together.
With our best wishes,
World Childrens Choir Singers and Parents
Sondra Harnes, President/Artistic Director
James Selway, Associate Director
Susan Haller, Chair, WCC Board of Directors
With one dream,
With one hope,
With one heart,
We sing with one voice.
With one will,
With one mind,
We stand together hand in hand.
We still dream,
We still hope,
We still love,
Our hearts are one.
With one voice,
Singing of one hope,
With one dream we stand.
Though terror and fear surround
us,
Though darkness can hide our day.
With love as our guide,
We will stand side by side,
And help each other to find the way.
We still dream,
We still hope,
We still love,
Our hearts are one,
With one voice,
Singing of one hope,
With one dream we stand.
