Global Family Virtual Choir

A Voice For Children

Established in 1990, the World Children's Choir serves as a voice for children worldwide - giving voice to the interests of all children, celebrating cultural diversity through music, promoting positive international relations, and asking people to work together to create a peaceful, healthy world for children.

The choir's artistic goal is to train students to develop solo quality voices, singing with beauty, artistry and joy using Bel Canto style of singing techniques.

We welcome children and teens living in Northern Virginia and the greater Washington, DC area to join us for our local rehearsals and concerts. Children, teens and adults from throughout the world are invited to join in our Global Family Virtual Choir video projects and live streamed fundraising concerts for international children’s charities.

WCC singers have performed at The Kennedy Center, Wolf Trap Performing Arts Center, and the White House.
EXPERIENCE THE JOY AND FREEDOM OF SINGING!
The ability to sing well is within everyone’s reach. Children and teens learn fun and relaxing vocal warm-ups, breathing and ear training exercises and other vocal techniques that help them match pitches, sing intervals accurately and develop a wide vocal range with beautiful quality. Repertoire includes international folk songs, environmental & peace songs, opera, operetta, oratorio, and choreographed Broadway show tunes.

Our Mission

WCC strives to serve as a voice for children's interests worldwide by celebrating cultural diversity through music, promoting positive international relations, and asking people to work together to create a peaceful, healthy world for children.

Through singing, our members explore musical content, and use music, art, and special activities to mediate cross-cultural differences and become peacemakers. The children learn how music and art express emotion, create shared experiences, bridge differences, tell stories, produce beauty, and enrich others.

By pursuing our mission, we believe that we contribute to building a world of peaceful respect, friendship, cooperation, and prosperity among nations. We believe that working together to produce beautiful music and other kinds of art enables the children to create friendships based on mutual understanding and respect. By bringing children from many cultures and nations together in song today, we can sow the seeds of a more peaceful world tomorrow.

How We Fulfill Our Mission

We offer professional instruction and unique opportunities to local children of all cultures, nationalities, and economic circumstances, to learn to sing with beauty, artistry, and joy.

We direct our music to inspire our audiences, reinforcing and sustaining our belief that by working together, we can truly create a peaceful, healthy world. We offer workshops to local children and others via the internet that include singing, choreography, drumming, art and cultural sharing. We produce virtual choir videos that include people of all ages from around the world. We produce an online fundraising concert that is streamed from the CommonTime Online global platform. Individuals and ensembles from many countries are invited to participate. Concert proceeds are donated to a designated international children's charitable organization. Join Us!
